Tarangire National Park gets its name from the river that threads its way
through the reserve. The park has one of the highest animal concentrations
during the dry season, yet it is one of the least visited of the northern
Tanzanian game parks, therefore retaining a real air of undiscovered Africa. Herds of elephants, buffalos, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes and Elands, as well as
leopards can be seen all through the year. For the bird enthusiast, the park
offers over 300 species of birds. The vegetation in Tarangire is primarily

baobab trees. [BLD]

the Great Rift escarpment. The park covers 390 km2 and is sanctuary to over 400
species of bird that include the pink flamingos, pelicans, storks, Ibis and
Egyptian Geese. The park also contains huge herds of buffalo and elephant. You

Kati Kati Tented Camp is ideally located in the very centre of the Serengeti, therefore
allowing you the opportunity to head off in the best direction to find the game
you desire, regardless of the season.
The Serengeti is renowned for its annual wildebeest migration and large
predator population. From February to May, a herd of over a million wildebeests
migrates for the Western corridor of the park in search of greener pastures.
Serengetis' other common animals include lions, leopards, zebras, Thompson
gazelles, impala, Grants gazelles and buffalos. Most of the park is open grassland
broken by isolated granite kopies (hills) and patches of acacias woodlands.
